Armeniș (German: Armönisch , Hungarian: Örményes ) is a municipality in the Caraș-Severin County , Banat , Romania . The Armeniș municipality also includes the villages of Feneș , Plopu , Sat Bătrân and Sub Margine .

Geographical location

Armeniş is located on the European route E70 and on the national road DN6 Bucureşti - Timişoara , in the east of the Caraş-Severin district, on the right bank of Temesch , 25 kilometers from Caransebeş .

history

In the 15th century, the village of Armaenisch was owned by the Fiath family. After the Peace of Passarowitz (1718), when the Banat became a Habsburg crown domain , the village was part of the Temescher Banat . Ominyes is entered on the Marsigli map (1690–1700) . After the Treaty of Belgrade (1736-1739) the boundary between the was Ottoman Empire and the Habsburg Empire along the Cerna pulled and the Banater military limit established with the German-Banater boundary regiment no. 12 , the Romanian-Banater boundary regiment no. 13 with Headquarters in Caransebeş founded and the Serbian-Banat Border Regiment No. 14

In 1778 the Banat was awarded to the Kingdom of Hungary by Empress Maria Theresa . From 1849 to 1860 it was part of an independent crown land of the Voivodeship of Serbia and Temescher Banat . After the Austro-Hungarian Compromise (1867), the Banat was annexed to the Kingdom of Hungary within the dual monarchy of Austria-Hungary .

In the first decade of the 20th century, the law for the Magyarization of place names (Ga. 4/1898) was applied, including the Magyarization of all toponyms on maps , land register extracts and city ​​maps . The official place name was Örményes . The Hungarian place names remained valid until the administrative reform of 1923 in the Kingdom of Romania , when the Romanian place names were introduced.

The Treaty of Trianon on June 4, 1920 resulted in the Banat being divided into three , which resulted in Armeniş falling to the Kingdom of Romania . Since 1968 Armeniș has belonged to the Caraș-Severin County.
