Băuțar ( Bouțar , Hungarian Baucár , Alsóbaucár ) is a municipality in the Caraș-Severin County , in the Banat region , in southwest Romania . The villages of Bucova , Cornișoru and Preveciori also belong to the municipality of Băuțar .
Geographical location
Băuțar is located in the northeast of the Caraș-Severin County, on the border with the Hunedoara County , at the foot of the Retezat and Poiana-Ruscă Mountains . The village is located on the DN 68 Caransebeş - Hațeg national road , 41 km from Caransebeş and 23 km from Oțelu Roşu .

history
Until 1920 the village was part of Hunedoara County and belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary . The Hungarian place name was Alsó-Baucár (Unter-Bautzen) and Felsõ-Baucár (Upper Bautzen).
Over the centuries, different spellings appeared the place name on: 1750 Bouczar , 1835 Bautzár inferior , 1808 Bauczar , Pauczur , 1861 Bauczár , 1888 Alsó-Bauczár , 1910 Alsóbaucár , 1913 Bruţarul de Jos , 1909 Bouţarul-de-jos , 1919 Băuţarul Inferior , 1835 Bautzár superior , 1888 Felsó-Bauczár , 1913 Felsóbaucár , Bruțarul de Sus , 1909 Bouțarul-de-sus , 1919 Băuțarul Superior .
The Treaty of Trianon on June 4, 1920 resulted in the Banat being divided into three parts , whereby the town fell to the Kingdom of Romania . In 1977 the two villages Băuțaru Inferior ( Alsó-Baucár ) and Băuțaru Superior ( Felsõ-Baucár ) were merged into one village Băuțar .
