Forotic (German: Forotik , Hungarian: Forotik ) is a municipality in the Caraș-Severin County , Banat , Romania . The Forotic municipality also includes the villages of Brezon , Comorâşte and Surducu Mare .

Geographical location

Forotic is located in the northwest of the Caraş-Severin County, on the county road 572 Bocşa - Doclin - Comorâşte and on the Lansstraße 57 Oravița - Timişoara , 25 km from Oravița and 30 km from Bocşa.

history

Forotic was first mentioned in 1557 when it was part of the Doclin and Biniș estates . In 1699 Forotyk was part of Severin County. On the Josephine land survey of 1717 the place Horodic is registered with 73 houses and belonged to the district Werschetz . After the Peace of Passarowitz (1718) the village was part of the Habsburg crown domain Temescher Banat . The place Koradik is noted on the Mercy map from 1723 .

With the Austro-Hungarian Compromise (1867), the Banat was annexed to the Kingdom of Hungary within the dual monarchy of Austria-Hungary .

The Treaty of Trianon on June 4, 1920 resulted in the Banat being divided into three parts , whereby Forotic fell to the Kingdom of Romania .
