history

Over the centuries different spellings of the place name occurred: 1690–1700 Ferlyug , 1717 Firluck , 1804 Furluk , 1808 Furlog , 1888 Furlung , Furlocu , 1913 Furluk , 1909/1919: Fârliu , Furlug , Furlog , Fîrliug

A first mention of the fortress Aizis , which was on the main road Lederata – Tibiscum between Fort Bersobis and Caput Bubalis , comes from the Tabula Peutingeriana . Aizis is believed by many historians to be on the territory of today's Fârliug. However, other historians suspect Ezeriș to be the former Aizis.

The name Ferliug appears for the first time in 1690 in contemporary documents. On the Josephine land survey of 1717 Firluck is registered with 100 houses. After the Peace of Passarowitz (1718) the village was part of the Habsburg crown domain Temescher Banat .

In 1821 the Gaspary and Kucerny families bought property in the village. For a whole century the economic development of the village was closely linked to these two families. They built manor houses and mills in the village. The Treaty of Trianon on June 4, 1920 resulted in the Banat being divided into three , whereby Fîrliug fell to the Kingdom of Romania . The Kucerny family then sold their goods and left the place. The Gaspary family stayed until 1921 when they were expropriated by land reform in the Kingdom of Romania . The Gaspary family's last estates were nationalized in 1948 .

After the Banat fell to Romania, Fârliug initially belonged to the Caraş district, Bocşa district. In 1933 the village was assigned to Severin County, Lugoj District. It has belonged to the Caraș-Severin County since 1968.
