Critics' Choice Television Award / Best Actor in a Comedy Series

The Critics' Choice Television Award in the category Best Actor in a Comedy Series (Original name: Best Actor in a Comedy Series ) is one of the awards , held annually in the United States by the Broadcast Television Journalists Association , a federation awarded by television critics. It is aimed at actors who an outstanding performance in a leading role in a comedy - TV series have provided. The category was launched in 2011. The winners will be determined in a secret vote by the association's television critics.

History and records

Since it was first awarded, the Broadcast Television Journalists Association has awarded a total of eight awards in the Best Actor in a Comedy Series category to five different actors. The first to win was Jim Parsons , who was honored in 2011 for his role as Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory . The last winner so far was Bill Hader , who was honored in 2020 for his role as Barry Berkman / Barry Block in Barry . The number of nominations has been six since it was first awarded and six since 2019.

The oldest winner and oldest nominated actor at 71 years of age was the American Jeffrey Tambor ( Transparent ). The youngest winner at the age of 33 in 2017 was the American Donald Glover ( Altanta ), the youngest nominated actor at 32 years each in 2014 was the Canadian Thomas Middleditch ( Silicon Valley ) and in 2016 the American Aziz Ansari ( Master of None ).
