The Audi V8 quattro DTM Evo successfully used by Audi.
The German Touring Car Championship in 1991 was the eighth season of the DTM . The first run took place on March 31, 1991 at the Belgian Circuit Zolder and the last run of the season on September 29 at the Hockenheimring . This was followed by two ITR Cup races in Brno and Donington on October 6th and 20th. The results of the DTM and ITR Cup races were added up for the ITR driver's cup classification.
A total of 24 races were held in Germany , Czechoslovakia , Great Britain and Belgium . Two runs were held on each of the 12 race weekends.
Overall winner of the DTM drivers' championship was Frank Biela in the Audi V8 quattro DTM Evo with 174 points. Biela also won the ITR driver's cup title with 218 points.
Audi was the first manufacturer in DTM history to succeed in defending the title in a subsequent season.
