Dvorichna ( Ukrainian Дворічна ; Russian Двуречная Dwuretschnaja ) is an urban-type settlement in the east of Ukraine and the administrative center of the same name Rajons in the north of Kharkiv Oblast with about 3500 inhabitants (2019).

Dworitschna is located at the confluence of the Nyschnja Dworitschna in the Oskil 138 km northeast of the Oblast center Kharkiv and 25 km north of Kupyansk .

In addition to Dvorichna, the settlement council also includes the village of Sapadne (Ukrainian Западне ) with about 350 inhabitants.

history

Dvorichna was founded in 1660 in the historical region of the " Wild Field " on the geographical and historical border between Russia and Ukraine to protect the population from the attacks of the Tatars . In 1923 the village became the administrative center of the newly established Rajons. The village was occupied by Wehrmacht troops from June 24, 1942 to February 2, 1943 . In 1960 Dvorichna received urban-type settlement status.
