Staryj Saltiw ( Ukrainian Старий Салтів ; Russian Ста́рый Са́лтов Stary Saltow ) is an urban-type settlement in the north of the Ukrainian Oblast of Kharkiv with about 3500 inhabitants (2015).
The village, founded in 1705, received the status of an urban-type settlement in 2000 and is the administrative center of the settlement council of the same name within the Vovchansk district .
Staryj Saltiw located on the right bank of the Petschenihy Reservoir accumulated Seversky Donets and the territorial road T-21-04 30 km southwest of Rajonzentrum Vovchansk and 47 km east of the Oblastzentrum Kharkiv .
The settlement council municipality of Staryj Saltiw, which has a total of about 4000 inhabitants, includes the villages Petrivske ( Петрівське ⊙ ) with about 670 inhabitants, Beresnyky ( Березники ⊙ ) with about 100 inhabitants and Metaliwka ( Металівка ⊙ ) with about 70 inhabitants.
