Kosacha Lopan

Kosatscha Lopan ( Ukrainian Козача Лопань ; Russian Казачья Лопань Kasatschja Lopan ) is an urban-type settlement in the north of the Ukrainian Oblast of Kharkiv with about 5200 inhabitants (2015).

Mentioned for the first time in the 1660s, the village has had the status of an urban-type settlement since 1938 and is the center of the settlement council community of the same name in the north of Derhatschi Rajon .

Kosacha Lopan is located on both banks of the Lopan ( Лопань ), a 96 km long tributary of the Udy in 2 km from the Russian border and on the territorial road T-21-17 about 30 km north of the district center Derhatschi and 47 km north of the Oblast center Kharkiv .

The settlement council community, which has a total of about 7000 inhabitants and an area of ​​24.29 km², also includes the villages of Hraniw ( Гранів ⊙ ) with about 120 inhabitants, Nova Kosacha ( Нова Козача ⊙ ) with about 420 inhabitants, Shevchenka ( Шевченка ⊙ ) with about 10 inhabitants and the settlement Weterynarne ( Ветеринарне ⊙ ) with about 580 inhabitants.
