Sloboschanske ( Ukrainian Слобожанське ; Russian Слобожанское Slobozhanskoye ) is an urban-type settlement in the center of the Ukrainian Oblast of Kharkiv with around 14,400 inhabitants (2017).
The place was founded in 1956 under the name Komsomolske ( Комсомольське ) and received urban-type settlement status in 1960. On February 4, 2016, the place was renamed Sloboschanske as part of the decommunization process . The Smijiw power plant (Ukrainian Зміївська ТЕС ) is one of the largest thermal power plants in Ukraine in Sloboschanske .
geography
The place is located in Smijiw Raion on the bank of the 16 km² Lyman Lake and on the regional road P-78 59 km southeast of the Kharkiv Oblast center and 22 km southeast of the Smijiw Raion center .
The Sloboschanske settlement council, in addition to the urban-type settlement, also includes the settlements Blahodatne ( Благодатне ⊙ ) with 590 inhabitants and Donets ( Донець ⊙ ) with around 1700 inhabitants.
