Zolochiv ( Ukrainian Золочів ; Russian Золочев Zolochev ) is an urban-type in the Ukraine and the administrative center of the same Rajons in the northwest of oblast Charkiw with about 9000 inhabitants (2015).
geography
Zolochiv is located on the bank of the Udy , a tributary of the Donets, and on the railway line to the center of Kharkiv Oblast , which is 44 km southeast of the village.
The settlement council municipality Zolochiv has a total of about 13,000 inhabitants, an area of 177.1 km² and thus a population density of 74 inhabitants per km². The settlement council community include, in addition to Zolochiv following villages: Berezivka ( Березівка ) Buhaji Druhi ( Бугаї Другі ) Srubanka ( Зрубанка ) Lytwynowe ( Литвинове ) Makarycha ( Макариха ) Orischanka ( Орішанка ) Rossochuwate ( Розсохувате ) Snihy ( Сніги ) and Zapivka ( Цапівка ).
history
The place was founded in 1677. From October 22, 1941 to August 8, 1943, the village was occupied by Wehrmacht troops. Zolochiv has had urban-type settlement status since 1925.
