Ljubotyn ( Ukrainian Люботин ; Russian Люботин Ljubotin ) is a city in Ukraine with about 20,000 inhabitants (2015). The city is a health resort and a railway hub in Kharkiv Oblast .
geography
Lyubotyn is located on the river Lyubotynka (Ukrainian Люботинка ), a tributary of the Udy , 24 km west of the Kharkiv Oblast center . In the north of the city the trunk road M 03 , a section of the European route 40 , grazes the city area. To the railway Borshchi-Kharkiv of Odessa Railways Liubotyn is connected with a railway station.
In addition to the city, the town also includes the village
- Smorodske (Ukrainian Смородське )

history
Founded on a river island in the mid 50s of the seventeenth century, Ljubotyn received city status in 1938 and has been a city of regional importance since 1993. From October 20, 1941 to August 29, 1943, the city was occupied by Wehrmacht troops.
