history
The village was founded in the early 19th century under the then name Kobyljatschyn (Ukrainian Кобилячин ). An upswing in the village resulted from the construction of a railway line in the years 1895–1897. The current name of the place goes back to the landowner named Sachnowskoho (Ukrainian Сахновського ), over whose ground the railway line ran. Sachnowschtschyna became a district center in 1923 and in 1938 received the status of an urban-type settlement. In 1933 the village was affected by the Holodomor and was occupied by Wehrmacht troops from the beginning of October 1941 to mid-September 1943 . On April 2, 1992, the newly built St. Maria Church was consecrated.
