Pissotschyn ( Ukrainian Пісочин ; Russian Песочин Pessotschin ) is an urban-type in the Ukraine with about 23,000 inhabitants (2019).
history
The village, first mentioned in 1732, has a train station on the Borschtschi – Kharkiv railway line and in 1938 received the status of an urban-type settlement. From October 1941 to August 29, 1943, Pissochyn was occupied by Wehrmacht troops. In 2012, part of the settlement was incorporated into Kharkiv.
geography
Pissochyn is located on the Udy, a tributary of the Siversky Donets, and borders the city limits of Kharkiv in the east . The Ukrainian trunk road M 03 , part of the European route 40, runs through the city .
The settlement council municipality with an area of 29.59 km² includes, in addition to Pissochyn itself, the two villages Nadtochiji ( Надточії ) and Oleschky and the settlement Raj-Oleniwka ( Рай-Оленівка ).
