The First Division 1969/70 was the 55th season in the history of the highest Maltese football league . FC Floriana became champions for the 21st time .

Compared to the previous season , the newly promoted FC Msida Saint Joseph and FC Qormi replaced the relegated FC Birkirkara and FC St. George’s . Both were represented in the House of Lords for the first time since the 1967/68 season .

mode

The season was played back and forth. There were two points for a win, one point for a draw and no point for a loss. In the event of a tie, a decision game was played for the championship and the relegation places. The last two placed had to be relegated to the Second Division.
