Ivo Nörenberg

Ivo Nörenberg (born June 8, 1970 in Hamburg ) is a German wildlife filmmaker .

Life

In the 1990s, Ivo Nörenberg worked as a photographer in the advertising industry (including at Schöner Wohnen and Neues Wohnen ) and since 1997 as a camera assistant for advertising films, music videos, documentaries and feature films.

Later he started his own business as a wildlife filmmaker together with the biologist, director and screenwriter Oliver Goetzl , with whom he founded Gulo Film Productions in 2004. Ivo Nörenberg and Oliver Goetzl became known in particular with the animal film Wolverines - Hyenas of the North , with which they were nominated in October 2006 for the " BBC Newcomer Award" at the Wildscreen Festival and in October 2007 the "Marion Zunz Newcomer Award" at the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival. Since 2006, Ivo Nörenberg has also been a finalist with this film at other international film festivals and won other awards. In 2009 and 2011 episodes for the ARD animal film series Wild Russia and Wild Scandinavia followed ( Urals 2009; Sweden , Finland both 2011).

In 2011, two animal documentaries in which Ivo Nörenberg was involved came to German cinemas: Russia - In the realm of tigers, bears and volcanoes and Serengeti . From an international perspective, the year was 2011 particularly significant for Nörenberg: It brought the investment in BBC One series Frozen Planet (German version of Frozen Planet ) and cooperation with the wildlife filmmaker David Attenborough at the BBC Natural World episode The Real Jungle Book Bear out .

In October 2012 Nörenberg received the “Animal Behavior Award” at the Wildscreen Festival in Bristol / England for the production Jungle Book Bear and was also honored with the “Panasonic Cinematography Award” as a member of the Frozen Planet camera team for the Winter episode . Wildscreen , considered the most renowned animal and nature film festival in the world , had nominated two current films by Ivo Nörenberg for a total of four awards: Jungle Book Bear ("Animal Behavior Award" and "Films @ 59 Sound Award"), Wild Scandinavia - Finland (" Panasonic Cinematography Award ”and“ Series Award ”). The coveted "Panda Awards" are considered "Green Oscars" in the industry. In 2020 Ivo Nörenberg went self-employed again.
