This list contains the churches in Landshut , including the incorporated districts. For the sake of clarity, the churches are sorted alphabetically and provided with a reference to the district. When sorting alphabetically, the consecration name (in Catholic churches) is relevant and not the nickname.

Catholic churches

In the Roman Catholic Church there is a special feature that the city of Landshut is divided between two dioceses . The districts to the right (south) of the Isar belong to the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising , the districts to the left (north) of the Isar belong to the Diocese of Regensburg . This demarcation was laid down in 1157. The only exception in the urban area of Landshut is the parish of St. Vinzenz von Paul in Auloh with the subsidiary churches of the Visitation of Mary in Frauenberg and St. Michael in Schweinbach, which is on the right of the Isar, but is still part of the diocese of Regensburg. Since Landshut's old town is to the right of the Isar or on the island between the Kleiner and Großer Isar, most of the significant historical church buildings belong to the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising.

Afrakapelle, Nikola

The Afra chapel (formerly Johanniskapelle ) belonging to the Seligenthal monastery is older than the abbey church of the Assumption of Mary. Before it was completed, the masses of the monastic community were probably celebrated in the Afra chapel. This must have been built quickly after the monastery was founded in 1232, since the monastery founder Ludmilla of Bohemia was buried here as early as 1240 . In the Afra Chapel there is a late Renaissance altarpiece from 1613, which contains Gothic figures of Mary with the baby Jesus , John the Baptist and the Evangelist John .
