The Athletics Federation of Germany wants the 2019 World Championships in Athletics in Doha to attend. The first seven participants and the walkers were nominated by the German Athletics Association at the beginning of July . Another 39 athletes followed in August. In mid-September, the supposed final line-up with a total of 71 athletes was announced, with the previously nominated Marie-Laurence Jungfleisch and Kristin Gierisch canceling their start due to injuries and javelin thrower Bernhard Seifert renouncing for form reasons in favor of Julian Weber . In the following days, Christina Honsel and Steven Müller got a starting place at the invitation of the world association IAAF , while Carolin Schäfer and Neele Eckhardt also canceled their start.
