Oberried is a wasteland and part of the independent city of Kempten (Allgäu) .

The single farm belonged to the main Mariaberg team . When the community was formed in 1818, Oberried was added to the rural community of Sankt Lorenz , but on April 24, 1934, it was spun off from Sankt Lorenz along with some neighboring settlements and incorporated into the city of Kempten, and subsequently also became part of the Kempten district .

In 1380 a farm in the Ried received an instinct in the Stadtallmey . In 1447 a well pipe in the Ried was mentioned.
