Algeria took part in the 2008 Summer Olympics in the Chinese capital Beijing with 56 athletes, 22 women and 34 men, in 18 sports.
Since 1964 it was the eleventh participation of an Algerian team in the Summer Olympics .
Flag bearer
The swimmer Salim Iles wore the flag of Algeria during the opening ceremony in the national stadium , at the closing ceremony it was carried by the boxer Abdelhafid Benchabla .
Medals
With one gained silver and bronze medals, the Algerian team finished 67th in the medals table .
