The area of the place was originally a part of the settlement Vysoká Lhota na Hrozenkovském potoku, which can be proven since 1261 . The wooden Kuban castle, which was destroyed by fire, was located on Lokov Mountain. In the 16th and 17th centuries the area was devastated and deserted by the incursions of Tartars, Turks and Kurucs. In 1750 a witch and fortune teller lived in the valley. The glassworks in the hamlet Hutě was destroyed during acts of war in the 18th century.
From 1829 the existence of the Žítková settlement is documented. The inhabitants of the place lived in modest circumstances from agriculture. Until the middle of the 20th century, the village was spared modern achievements. In 1948 the place was electrified and in 1950 the first bus drove to Žítková.
