Sportsman of the year 2011 (Germany)
The 2011 athletes of the year in Germany were chosen by the trade journalists and honored on December 18 in the Kurhaus in Baden-Baden . The election was organized for the 65th time by the Internationale Sport-Korrespondenz (ISK). In addition, Verena Bentele was awarded the Sparkasse Prize 2011 for her successes and commitment, with which she is a role model for young athletes. For the first time, with Dirk Nowitzki, a team athlete was chosen as athlete of the year. So far this has only been achieved by individual athletes.
