The Beatles (No. 1) is an EP released on November 1, 1963 by the British rock band The Beatles . It was the Beatles' third EP released on Parlophone . All four tracks on the EP come from the album Please Please Me , the group's debut album. The EP was only released in mono .

By the time their third UK EP was released, the Beatles had established themselves as the dominant musical force in Britain. Her debut album Please Please Me was number 1 on the British album charts since May 1963, the single of the same name had reached number 2 in the singles charts, the following singles From Me to You and She Loves You topped the charts for months. Both EPs of the group made it to number 1 in the EP charts and were also able to place themselves in the singles charts. At the time of the release of The Beatles (No. 1) , the previously released Beatles EPs were still number 1 and 2 on the EP charts. The Beatles' best ranking (No. 1) was second.
In total, The Beatles (No. 1) stayed in the EP charts for 29 weeks, 11 weeks of which in the top 3. In the singles charts, the EP came to number 19 in the Melody Maker and to number 24 in the New Musical Express (NME).
Cover design
The photo of the cover is from Angus McBean. It was one of the photos he took for the cover of the album Please Please Me. On the back of the cover is an accompanying text from Tony Barrow, the Beatles' press officer.
Track list
As with Twist and Shout , the Beatles' first British EP, all four songs were from the group's first album. The two pieces on the first page were compositions by John Lennon and Paul McCartney , the pieces on the second page were cover versions .

Re-releases
The EP The Beatles (No. 1) was pressed until the 1970s. In December 1981, the EP was released as part of the The Beatles EPs Collection box set , which included all UK EPs. On May 26, 1992, this set was released with the slightly changed title The Beatles Compact Disc EP. Collection as CD edition.
