Villefort is a French commune with 548 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Lozère department of the Occitanie region .
geography
Villefort is located at an altitude of about 550 meters in the south massif central south of the Altier river in the Cevennes region . The highest mountain in the Cevennes, Mont Lozère , is about 20 kilometers west of the municipality. The Cevennes railway line between Clermont-Ferrand and Nîmes crosses the town.
