history

Evangelical Church in Ottleben

The place Ausleben first appeared in a deed of ownership in 1208; the first mention of the districts: Üplingen 1049, Ottleben 1108 and Warsleben 1112. The St. Petri Church in Ausleben dates from 1781 and has been thoroughly renovated in recent years. In the district of Ottleben there is an old fortified church with the St. Stephen's Church . The Warsleben church was built in 1699, the Üplingen village church, which was consecrated at the end of the 18th century, is a rare octagon building in Germany .

In the history of often changing rulers, acting out suffered greatly, especially in the Thirty Years' War . During the period of gradual economic recovery from the middle of the 17th century, several windmills were built in today's municipal area, of which the post mills in Ausleben (1702) and Ottleben (1632) have been preserved to this day. A distillery has been in operation at Gut Üplingen since 1813 .

On September 30, 1928, the Ottleben manor district was merged with the Ottleben rural community and the Üplingen manor district was combined with the Warsleben rural community to form the new Warsleben rural community. On July 1, 1950, the communities Ottleben and Warsleben (with the district of Üplingen) were incorporated into Ausleben.

The Catholic Church of St. Johannes Baptist has been located in the Ottleben district since 1958, built in a former cowshed.

Today it is a primary and secondary school location. As part of the village renewal, a new fire station has been inaugurated in recent years , which is also used by the volunteer fire departments of the districts. The natural pool in Warsleben was also extensively renovated.

Voluntary fire brigades, rifle clubs, gardening clubs, sports clubs and riding and driving clubs shape community life, which includes the traditional potato festival in Warsleben. On the 2nd day of Pentecost, a mill festival with demonstrations takes place around the Ottleben mill as part of the Open Monument Day.

politics

coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on April 28, 1995 by the Magdeburg Regional Council.

Blazon : "In silver, a red windmill on a green three-mountain."

In the flag approval process in 2001, the red windmill was slightly changed. The Dreiberg remained unaffected, so that the blazon of the coat of arms did not have to be revised.

flag

The flag was approved on December 7, 2001 by the Magdeburg Regional Council.

The flag is vertical red and white (1: 1) striped and covered with the municipal coat of arms.

Political issue

The district of Ausleben-Üplingen is one of the locations for which the BVL approved the planting of genetically modified spring wheat by the University of Rostock in May 2008 . The grain to be planted should be resistant to the wheat fly blight , a phytopathogenic fungus. The gene transferred to wheat comes from a plant virus that can be found in the fungus of the corn smut . 7,400 objections to the test cultivation were ultimately incorporated and / or rejected by the BVL in the test permit.
