geography

The municipality of Œuilly is located on the left, southern bank of the Marne , which forms the northern municipal boundary, 14 kilometers west of Épernay and about 28 kilometers southwest of Reims . While fields, meadows and smaller forest areas predominate on the plateau-like terrain in the south of the municipality, the slopes gently sloping north to the Marne are planted with vines, which here take up every free square meter outside the development. The wines that are produced in Œuilly are mainly base wines for the champagne in the Vallée de la Marne part of the Champagne wine-growing region , but also still wines from the Côteaux Champenois appellation . The grape varieties Pinot Noir , Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay are grown . The vineyards, which slope slightly to the north, are protected from cold north winds by the Montagne de Reims .

Neighboring municipalities of Œuilly are Reuil in the north, Boursault in the east, Saint-Martin-d'Ablois in the south and Leuvrigny in the west. In addition to the village of Montvoisin , the municipality of Œuilly also includes the hamlets of La Cense Carrée, Le Bois Brûlé, La Ville aux Bois and La Bouloye .
