Avrillé is a French municipality with 13,692 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Maine-et-Loire in the region of Pays de la Loire .

history

In the 12th century the abbess of Ronceray founded a monastery, which existed until the revolution. After the revolution, Avrillé remained a rural community, which began with the industrial mining of slate in the 19th century. As a neighboring town of Angers, Avrillé was able to participate in the boom of the 1950s and 1960s and is now a prosperous residential and industrial town.

Avrillé has entered into a partnership with the German city of Schwalbach am Taunus in Hesse .

In Avrillé, in the Dominican monastery de la Haye-aux-Bonshommes, there is a traditionalist Fraternité Saint-Dominique, which until recently was close to the Pius Brothers.
