The Roman Catholic Diocese of Ávila ( Latin Dioecesis Abulensis ) is in Spain situated Roman Catholic diocese , based in Ávila .

history

The diocese of Ávila was established in the 11th century and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Mérida as a suffragan . On February 27, 1120, the diocese Ávila was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Santiago de Compostela as a suffragan. The diocese of Ávila has been subordinate to the Archdiocese of Valladolid as a suffragan since July 4, 1857 .
