In addition to the main settlement, the municipality also includes the hamlets of Les Chabanas, Les Courtilles, Le Couvent, Les Granges, La Combe, La Baume and Le Moulin . Chanousse lies on the Blaisance River and borders on Montclus to the north, Méreuil to the northeast, Trescléoux to the east, Orpierre to the southeast, Étoile-Saint-Cyrice to the south and Montjay to the west .
