Coltainville is a French municipality with 884 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Eure-et-Loir in the region Center-Val de Loire . Coltainville belongs to the Arrondissement of Chartres and the Canton of Chartres-1 (until 2015: Canton of Chartres-Nord-Est ). The inhabitants are called Coltainvillois .

Coltainville is about eight kilometers northeast of Chartres . Coltainville is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Soulaires in the north, Bailleau-Armenonville in the northeast, Champseru in the east, Houville-la-Branche in the southeast, Nogent-la-Phaye in the south, Gasville-Oisème in the west and southwest, Saint-Perst in the west as well Jouy in the northwest.

The A11 autoroute runs along the southern edge of the municipality.
