Sours is a commune with 1,951 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Eure-et-Loir in the region Center-Val de Loire . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Chartres and the Canton of Chartres-2 (until 2015: Canton of Chartres-Sud-Est ).

geography

Sours is about nine kilometers east-southeast of Chartres . Sours is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Nogent-le-Phaye in the north, Houville-la-Branche in the northeast, Francourville in the east, Prunay-le-Gillon in the south and southeast, Berchères-les-Pierres in the south and southwest and Gellainville in the west.

The Route nationale 154 forms the southwestern municipality border.

history

In the 12th century, the knights of the Knights Templar set up a command, which was later taken over by the Order of St. John.

On May 8, 1360, the Peace of Brétigny was signed in the small village of Brétigny in the municipality , with which the Hundred Years War between England and France came to an end.
