List of political parties in Germany

This list shows the political parties and electoral associations active in Germany (as of 2019).

The German Political Parties Act defines parties in Section 2 (1) as follows:

"Parties are associations of citizens who permanently or for a longer period of time exert influence on the formation of political will for the federal or state level and want to participate in the representation of the people in the German Bundestag or a state parliament, if they are based on the overall picture of the actual circumstances in particular according to the scope and strength of their organization, according to the number of their members and according to their appearance in public, offer a sufficient guarantee of the seriousness of this objective. Members of a party can only be natural persons. "

Parties with voter participation

According to the Political Parties Act, a party loses its status as a party if it does not take part in Bundestag or Landtag elections for six years. The following list accordingly lists all parties that have not been dissolved in the meantime that have participated in federal or state elections in the last six years or are younger than six years. As far as data are available, the number of members , the number of regional associations or direct subdivisions of the federal party, the sum of the payments received from state party funding and the date of foundation are given.
