Saarland 1945–1956
The Saarland was after the Second World War until 1 January 1957, a autonomous territory under a French protectorate . Accordingly, independent parties emerged after 1945. In the run-up to the referendum on the European Saar Statute in 1955, parties seeking reunification with the Federal Republic of Germany were also admitted.
- Christian People's Party of the Saarland (CVP), founded in 1945, merged with the Center Party to form the Christian People's Party (CVP) in 1956 , became independent again in 1957 and merged with the CSU-Saar to form the CSU / CVP, in 1959 merged into the CDU , splitting off the Saarland People's Party (SVP )
- Social Democratic Party of Saarland (SPS), founded in 1945, broke up in 1956 in favor of the SPD on
