The Divizia B 2000/01 was the 61st season of the second highest Romanian football league . Sportul Bucharest Studenţesc and UM Timisoara and Farul Constanta via the play-offs rose in the Divizia A on. FC Baia Mare had also won the play-offs, but sold its starting place for Divizia A to FCM Bacau .

mode

The league was played in two seasons with 18 teams each. The two winners were promoted directly to Divizia A, while the runner-ups were also promoted through the play-offs. The last six clubs were relegated to Divizia C. There were three points for a win, one for a draw and no point for a loss. If two or more teams were tied at the end of the season, it was not the goal difference that decided , but the direct comparison .

    1 Metalul Plopeni took over the league place from the actual promoted Hondor Agigea, who waived for financial reasons.
    2 FCM Poiana Câmpina was renamed Dinamo Poiana Câmpina and played as the reserve team for Dinamo Bucharest.
    3 Metrom Brașov sold Cimentul Fieni after the season his league place and rose to Divizia C.
    4th Diplomatic Focșani was renamed Unirea 2000 Focșani.
    5 Cimentul Fieni acquired the license from Metrom Brașov, who then descended into Divizia C instead of Cimentul.
