Qualin Dont'a Hightower (* 12. March 1990 in Lewisburg , Tennessee ) is an American American football poker players on the position of the linebackers . He plays for the New England Patriots in the National Football League (NFL). Hightower was selected by the Patriots in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft .

Qualin Dont'a Hightower was born in Lewisburg, Tennessee. He attended Marshall County High School in Lewisburg, where he played for the Marshall County Tigers. He first attracted attention after scoring over 1,000 yards in the running game and seven touchdowns as a running back in the last four games of the season . He was later used as a linebacker and tight end .

Hightower was selected to play in the US Army East West All-Star Game in San Antonio . It received a four-star rating from Rivals.com and Scout.com .

Career

college

Hightower played college football for the University of Alabama from 2008 to 2011 . He had other offers from Auburn University , the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), the University of Tennessee and Vanderbilt University .

NFL

On July 29, 2012, Hightower entered into a four-year contract with the New England Patriots . After two rather unremarkable debut years at the side of experienced Jerod Mayo , he broke in the 2014 season through, when he used his role as defender of Mayo's injury, 89 tackles and six quarterback sack achieved and to contributing to the Patriots to Super Bowl XLIX against the Seattle Seahawks reached. There, at the score of 28:24, he contributed an important tackle in the final seconds to the fact that Seattle running back Marshawn Lynch was stopped a yard in front of New England's end zone, and thus enabled the game-winning interception of teammate Malcolm Butler . After consistently strong performances, Hightower was elected to the Pro Bowl for the first time in 2016 and contributed to the progression of the Patriots in the Super Bowl LI against the Atlanta Falcons . Here he made another important tackle when he landed a quarterback sack against Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan at 12:28 , who fumbled the football to the Patriots . This action marked the start of the historic comeback of New England, which won 34:28 after extra time and landed the first overtime victory in Super Bowl history.
