history
The first documentary mention dates back to 1410, when the village was named after the Gerlista family. 1484 Gerlistye and Rwdarya appear in the contemporary documents.
In the records of the historian Marsigli from 1690-1700, Ruderia belonged to the Halmas district. On the Josephine land survey of 1717, the place Roderia is registered with 82 houses and belongs to the Orschowa district. After the Peace of Passarowitz (1718) the village was part of the Habsburg crown domain Temescher Banat . During the Habsburg settlement policy, Macedonians were settled and after 1737 some families from Little Wallachia (Bufänen) settled in the village. The Bufänen belonged to the Wallachian-Illyrian Border Regiment No. 13 of the Banat military border.
The Treaty of Trianon on June 4, 1920 resulted in the triple division of the Banat , whereby Rudăria fell to the Kingdom of Romania . On December 28, 1805, the Banat freedom fighter from 1848 Eftimie Murgu was born in Rudăria . In 1970 the village was renamed Eftimie Murgu after him .
Rudăria watermills
In 1772 there were eight watermills in Rudăria, in 1874 there were already 51. Due to the major floods in 1827, 1941 and 1955, only 22 mills remained, of which 13 are in the municipality and nine outside. The 22 preserved mills extend over three kilometers along the Rudărica river. The mills were restored at the beginning of the 2000s from the European Culture Fund for 19,000 euros. The hydraulic systems were renewed, whereby the old, rotten wooden parts were replaced by iron parts. The mill park was opened on February 17, 2001.
