The FA Cup 2004/05 was the 124th staging of the world's oldest soccer cup tournament; The Football Association Challenge Cup , or FA Cup for short . This cup season started with 661 clubs. Until the completion of London's Wembley Stadium, the final remained in the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff , Wales .
The cup competition began with the extra preliminary round on August 28, 2004 and ended with the final on May 21, 2005. The winner of this event was Arsenal FC .

The FA Cup is played in rounds. Any team that has a certain level of performance and an appropriate playing field can take part. The game is played i. d. Usually only with a first leg. In the event of a tie, a second leg takes place. If the second leg also ends in a draw, the game goes into extra time or penalty shoot-out. This mode lasts until the sixth main round. From the semi-finals onwards there is only one game, possibly with extra time and penalty shoot-out.
Some teams are exempt from certain rounds:
- In the second qualifying round, the teams from Conference North / South (6th division of the English league) are added.
- In the fourth qualifying round, the teams of the Conference National (5th division of the English league) are added.
- In the first main round, the teams of League 1 and 2 of the Football League (3rd and 4th division of the English league) are added.
- In the third main round on the first weekend in January, the teams from the Football League Championship (2nd division of the English league) and the Premier League (1st division of the English division) are added
Each winner receives a bonus from the television money, which is staggered according to the round.
Main round
First main round
In the first main round, the 24 teams of Football League One or Two enter the competition.
The games were played on November 12-14, 2004. The replay took place between November 23rd and 25th.
Second main round
The games were played from December 3rd to 5th, 2004. The replays followed on December 14th and 15th of that year.
Third main round
In this round, the teams of the FA Premier League (20 teams) and the teams of the Football League Championship (24 teams) enter the competition.
The games were played on the weekend of January 8, 2005. Necessary replay games have been scheduled for January 17-19.
Fourth main round
The games took place on January 29th and 30th, 2005. The required replay games were played on February 12th and 13th.
Fifth main round
The meetings took place on February 19 and 20, 2005. The repetitions followed on March 1st and 2nd of that year.
