Participation in the World Cup was already certain after the second game of the second round. A draw against Colombia was enough to win the South American Championship, which also qualified for the World Cup regardless of the outcome of the other game.

A total of 19 players were used by coach Vadão , including goalkeeper Andreia Suntaque and Andressa Alves , Maurine , Raquel Fernandes and Tamires in all seven games. In the last group game of the first round, some regular players were spared. Marta was not in the squad because the Swedish league was still running during the Copa . The top scorer and top scorer of the championship was Cristiane with six goals, who also made her 100th international match on September 14, 2014 . Andressa Alves scored four goals.

The Brazilian team at the 2015 Algarve Cup before the game against Sweden

On November 26, 2014, the team played a friendly against World Cup participants France in Lyon , which they lost 2-0 - the first defeat after five draws against the French. In December, the team hosted a tournament in Brasília , in which Marta was back in the squad. Brazil met Argentina (4: 0) as well as the World Cup participants USA (3: 2 in the group game and 0: 0 in the final) and China (4: 1) and won the tournament. Since there is no fixed and competitive structure in Brazilian women's football, the players playing in Brazil were brought together in the national training center in Itu Spa Sports in January 2015 . In March 2015, the team took part in the traditional Algarve Cup in Portugal for the first time and met again in the only group in which only World Cup participants played China (0-0 on March 4), European champions and defending champions Germany (1 : 3 on March 9) and Sweden (2-0 on March 6). On March 11, the Brazilians met Switzerland for the first time in the game for 7th place and won 4-1. On April 8th in Fürth , two days after arriving from Brazil, they lost again to Germany, this time with 0: 4.

When the groups were drawn, Brazil was seeded and was designated as the group head of group E.

Lost the course were South Korea and the two World Cup newcomers Spain and Costa Rica . There were previously three games against South Korea, two of which were won and one lost. There were previously two games against Costa Rica, both of which were won. They have not played against Spain before.

In the first game against courageous South Koreans, Formiga, who was the second player after the Japanese Homare Sawa in the sixth World Cup finals, brought the South Americans into the lead through a single action. In the second half, Marta was able to score her 15th World Cup goal with a penalty and has been the sole record scorer ever since . Marta also scored her first World Cup goal in 2003 with a penalty against South Korea. Although the Asians then pushed for the goal, Brazil defended the 2-0 to the end. In the second group game against Spain, they then won 1-0. This means that Brazil was already the group winner after two games, also based on the results of the other group opponents. In the last game against Costa Rica, coach Vadão spared his best players, including Marta, Cristiane and Formiga. Nevertheless, the Brazilians were the dominant team, but initially could not use their scoring opportunities. It was only in the 83rd minute that Raquel Fernandes, who had previously only made short appearances, scored the winning goal. This made Brazil the only team with three wins and the only team without conceding a goal to win the group, alongside defending champions Japan. Costa Rica, on the other hand, was eliminated as the worst third party in the group.

Brazil met Australia in the round of 16 on June 21, 2015 , the runners-up from Group D. Brazil lost 0: 1 despite their superiority in the game and were eliminated from the tournament.
