The district of Haabersti ( Haabersti asum ) is located in the Haabersti district of the same name ( Haabersti linnaosa ) in the Estonian capital Tallinn .

The city district has 570 inhabitants (as of May 1, 2010). In the north it borders on the Bay of Kopli ( Kopli laht ). Its historical German name is Haberst or Habers Hof .

The multifunctional hall Saku Suurhall, completed in 2001, is located in Haabersti . It is the largest of its kind in Estonia with a capacity of over 10,000 visitors. Sports events and concerts take place there regularly. In May 2002 the hall was the venue for the 47th Eurovision Song Contest .

The Saku Suurhall stands next to the modern Rocca al Mare kaubanduskeskus shopping center with its sales area of ​​54,000 square meters. It opened its doors in 1998.

history

Habersti already belonged in 1265 within the boundaries of the city of Tallinn (German Reval ). In the 16th or 17th century it became a town good. In 1969 it was incorporated into the Estonian capital.
