Inge Keller
Ingeborg "Inge" Keller (born December 15, 1923 in Berlin ; † February 6, 2017 there ) was a German actress .
Life
Inge Keller was born in Berlin-Friedenau . Her father, Arthur Keller (1882–1941), who had learned to build roads, married the daughter of a manufacturer, Auguste Dorothea Engler, at the age of 36 in Niedercunnersdorf. Ingeborg had an older sister Jutta and a younger brother Jürgen. The parental quarry in Lausitz had to serve for the construction of the AVUS .
She made her debut in 1942 at the Theater am Kurfürstendamm . Then she went to Saxony, where she played in Freiberg and Chemnitz and also saw the end of the war. After the Second World War she returned to Berlin, initially at the Hebbel Theater . Boleslaw Barlog finally engaged Inge Keller at the Schlossparktheater . This cast her as the puetz in Des Teufels General , which she played in the title role in 250 performances with OE Hasse . In 1950 she moved to the German Theater in the eastern part of the city . There she played as a member of the ensemble until 2001 and continued to be a guest there from then on.

Her cooperation with directors such as Wolfgang Langhoff and Wolfgang Heinz , later with Thomas Langhoff , Peter Stein , Edith Clever , Harry Kupfer , Einar Schleef and Michael Thalheimer made her one of the most important theater actresses in East and West Germany. Keller made guest appearances in West Berlin in the 1970s and 1980s at the Schaubühne and the Renaissance Theater , a. a. in productions by Rudolf Noelte .

Keller also impressed with style and language in films such as Doctors based on the play by Rolf Hochhuth (1984 actor award at the 3rd National Film Festival of the GDR ) and in Aimée and Jaguar and Lola and Bilidikid in 2000. In addition, she played in television films for ARD and ZDF, such as Alles Samba , Wilsberg and Commissario Brunetti .
On her 75th birthday in 1998, the publishing house Das Neue Berlin published the book by Hans-Dieter Schütt Inge Keller, which has been out of print several times since then - Everything is at risk . An extended new edition was published for the Leipzig Book Fair 2007. Günter Gaus portrayed Keller in 2000 in his interview series Zur Person in the RBB .
In 1989 she made a guest appearance at the Wiener Festwochen as Mrs. Alving in Ibsen's Ghosts with Ulrich Mühe as Osvald - a production that was on the repertoire of the Deutsches Theater for twelve years. She had one of her acclaimed appearances at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich and at the Komische Oper Berlin as Maria Josefa in Aribert Reimann's opera Bernarda Albas Haus after Federico García Lorca , directed by Harry Kupfer , the only speaking role in the modern music theater piece. Keller's linguistic expressiveness and sustainability as an actress are also attested by her readings of the works of Heinrich von Kleist , Theodor Fontane , Thomas Mann , Stefan Zweig , Eva Strittmatter , Christa Wolf and Franz Fühmann . Thomas Mann's Die Betrogene was published by the audio book publisher PATMOS .
Inge Keller did not belong to any party. She described herself ironically as the Countess on duty in the GDR . On the occasion of her 75th birthday, Thomas Langhoff called her the only vamp in the GDR . The media named her the grande dame of German theater.
On November 18, 2007, she celebrated her 65th stage anniversary with a reading of Kleist's Die Marquise von O .... at the Deutsches Theater Berlin. At a memorial event on the occasion of Erwin Geschonneck's death on April 2, 2008, she performed at the Akademie der Künste together with Regine Lutz , Hermann Beyer and Thomas Langhoff. Keller played with Geschonneck in 1961, among other things, in the DEFA film Conscience in Turmoil .
On April 13, 2008 she read the novella Leporella by Stefan Zweig in the Deutsches Theater . On the occasion of her 85th birthday on December 15, 2008, Gregor Gysi interviewed her in the series of talks at the German Theater Gregor Gysi meets contemporaries . In 2009 Inge Keller appeared in the Berliner Ensemble as Shakespeare in the production of Shakespeare's Sonnets by Robert Wilson and Rufus Wainwright .
On July 16, 2009 Inge Keller read in the cinema Tilsiter Lichtspiele from Arnold Zweig's novel Young Woman from 1914 . Also present was the film director and author Egon Günther , in whose film adaptation of the novel of the same name she played a major role.
The daughter Barbara Schnitzler emerged from the marriage in 1952 with the chief commentator of GDR television Karl-Eduard von Schnitzler , who divorced in 1956 . They and their daughter Pauline Knof also work as actresses.
Inge Keller was buried on February 20, 2017 in Berlin-Mitte in the Dorotheenstadt cemetery .
