The regional district Kastoria ( Greek Periferiaki Eontita Kastorias ) is one of the four regional districts of the Greek region West Macedonia around the administrative seat Kastoria . Kastoria was created as a prefecture in 1941 by spinning off from Florina prefecture. With the administrative reform of 2010 , the competences of the prefecture were transferred to the region of West Macedonia and the municipalities, which were greatly reduced due to the amalgamation. Kastoria includes the parishes of Argos Orestiko , Kastoria and Nestorio .
geography
The area of Kastorias with the capital of the same name is located in the far west of Western Macedonia. In the north Kastoria borders on the Florina regional district , in the south, east and south-east on Grevena and Kozani , in the south-west on Ioannina and in the west on Albania .
The region is mountainous and is characterized by a continental climate with large temperature fluctuations between cold winters and hot summers; In winter, minus temperatures even freeze the lake.
