Konrad is derived from Middle High German "Kuonrât" from Old High German "kuoni" (bold, brave, courageous) and Middle High German "rât" (advice, counselor) and literally means the bold adviser ("kühn an advice"), correspondingly the good adviser . The Latinized form is Conradus .
In the second half of the Middle Ages the name Konrad was widespread.
