description
The nature reserve "Leimen" is described as a "rocky biotope of two mountain peaks with blurred limestone, a juniper heath with numerous protected plants and spring horizons with interesting vegetation". The sheep pastures , which are often interspersed with junipers , solitary trees and hedges , and the subsequent beech forest, which is mostly still near-natural, have a rich flora and fauna. The diversity of plants in the nature reserve is of outstanding importance. This is based on the frequent changes in site conditions, such as different types of exposure, small climatic differences, very dry places and moist spring horizons, beech forest, light fringing forest, wood-free lawns and numerous edge zones.
Protection purpose
The main protection purpose is the preservation of the rock biotope of two mountain peaks with blurred limestone and an extraordinarily long juniper heather belt with twenty-eight protected plant species.
