Lilly
Lilli , or Lilly , Lili or Lily , is a female given name .
Origin and meaning
Lilli and the subsidiary forms Lilly, Lili, Lily are pet forms or Lall forms from children's language, mostly for the first name Elisabeth . These pet forms are also used for other first names, such as Adele, Alice, Dietlinde, Emilie, Elia, Ileana, Juliana, Karoline, Liselotte, Luisa, Lydia, Lysiane.
Occasionally the meaning is also given with lily , because the English spelling of these plants is Lily. However, there is no connection between Lilli and Lilith .
The name and its subsidiary forms became known primarily through the soldier song Lili Marleen .
The first name Lilly and its subsidiary forms Lilli and Lili have occurred frequently since around 2001 and were always among the 20 most common first names for newborn girls from 2002 to 2010. The name has therefore become a fashion name.
