Maisonsgoutte (German Meisengut or Meisengott ) is a French commune with 804 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the northern Vosges in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ). It is one of the border towns of the Alemannic dialect area . The Wagenbach district also belongs to the municipality.

Surname

The place was first mentioned as Dyezelbach or Thieselbach. Then it says in the sources Hüszelbach and in the 14th century Hisselbach. In today's spelling, this corresponds to Häuselbach and therefore the meaning of the French name Maisonsgoutte ('houses' - 'Bach'). Meisengut and Meisengott are morphological retransmissions from French.
