history

It is known that the settlement was subordinate to the Abbey of Ebersmunster in 677 . Earlier place names were "Veratesheim" (817), "Ousenheim" (1156), "Outenheim" (1183), "Udenheim" (1240), "Uotenheim" (1270) and "Utenheim" (1339). The name "Uttenheim" has existed since 1422.
