Steige is a French commune with 609 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ). It belongs to the Arrondissement Sélestat-Erstein and the Canton of Mutzig .
geography
The municipality of Steige is located in the valley of the upper Ruisseau du Giessen de Steige , a tributary of the Giessen in the Vosges . The 535 meter high Col de Steige connects Steige with the upper Breuschtal .
In addition to the main settlement, there are also the districts of Architte, Bas-de-Monts, Champ-Marchal, La Mine, Roseprés and Woisselingoutte .
Neighboring communities of Steige are Breitenbach in the northeast, Maisonsgoutte in the east, Lalaye in the south, Urbeis in the southwest and Ranrupt in the northwest.
