The French commune of Hilsenheim is located in the Bas-Rhin department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Alsace ). It has 2633 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017).
geography
Sélestat is about ten kilometers southwest and the greater Strasbourg area 40 kilometers north. The Rhine and thus the border with Germany run ten kilometers to the east . The neighboring communities are Witternheim , Bindernheim and Wittisheim in the east, Muttersholtz in the south, Ebersmunster in the west and Kogenheim , Sermersheim and Rossfeld in the north.
history
From 1871 until the end of the First World War , Hilsenheim belonged to the German Empire as part of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine and was assigned to the Schlettstadt district in the Lower Alsace district .
