The municipality Chaschuri ( Georgian ხაშურის მუნიციპალიტეტი , Chaschuris munizipaliteti ) is an administrative unit (roughly equivalent to a district ) in the Inner Kartlien region in the central part of Georgia .
geography
The administrative center of the municipality of Chaschuri is the city of Chaschuri . The area is 585.2 km².
In the east and north-east the municipality is bounded by the municipality of Kareli , in the northwest and west by the municipalities of Satschere and Kharagauli of the Inner Kartli region and in the south by the municipality of Borjomi of the Samtskhe-Javakheti region .

The municipality has 52,603 inhabitants (2014).

The largest towns besides Chaschuri, where about half of the inhabitants of the municipality live with 26,135, are the minority (Georgian daba, დაბა ) Surami with 7,492 inhabitants and the villages Kwishcheti and Zchramucha with over 1,500 inhabitants each (2014).
The municipality is divided into the independent capital Chaschuri as well as 12 municipalities (for the minor city referred to as a "territorial organ ", Georgian teritoriuli organo, ტერიტორიული ორგანო , for the villages Georgian temi, bei or, if there is only one locality, simply “village”, Georgian sopeli, სოფელი ) with a total of 83 villages, of which 12 have no permanent residents:

Attractions
In the municipality of Chaschuri there are important sights. The Surami fortress and the Zromi Church are particularly well known .
