The municipality Kaspi ( Georgian კასპის მუნიციპალიტეტი , Kaspis munizipaliteti ) is an administrative unit (roughly equivalent to a district ) in the Inner Kartlien region in the central part of Georgia .
geography
The administrative center of the municipality is the city of the same name, Kaspi . The area of the municipality with an area of 803.2 km² extends largely over the Inner Cartelian plain . Important rivers in the municipality are the Kura and its tributaries Ksani , Lechura , Kawtura and Tedsami .

The municipality has 43,771 inhabitants (2014), which means that it has decreased by about a sixth compared to the 52,217 inhabitants in 2002, roughly in line with the Georgian average.

The largest towns besides the city of Kaspi (13,423 inhabitants) are the villages of Aghaiani , Doessi , Metechi and Semo Chandaki (2014), each with over 1,500 inhabitants .
The municipality is divided into the independent capital Kaspi and 16 municipalities (Georgian temi, თემი or simply "village", Georgian sopeli, სოფელი ) with a total of 74 villages, three of which have no permanent residents:

Attractions
In the municipality there are well-known architectural and cultural monuments such as the Kwatachewi and Rkoni monasteries , the Samtawissi Cathedral and the Schwilo fortress .
